LEI's “PSLM” Laser Systems enable the company to provide turnkey laser processing solutions to their customers. Whether the laser system is being used on our floor as part of our laser contract manufacturing service or we are building the system for a customer, this part of our business brings together all of our collective technological strengths. PSLM is an acronym that stands for “Process Specific Laser Machine.” A laser “system” consists of a laser, an optical beam delivery system, part handling system, computer interface, system diagnostics, intelligent vision, system enclosure, as well as many other laser system support categories that aid in laser processing. To date, the company has three different laser marking systems: the PSLM-900 UltraMarkTM UV Laser Beam Delivery Tape and Reel System, the PSLM-1000 UltraMarkTM High Speed SMD Laser Marking System and our newest system, the PSLM-1100 UltraMarkTM SMD Laser Marking System. Other systems for marking or materials processing are built by our company for custom laser production lines, as well as for product lines the company determines to be strategically important to its success.
LASERS AS PART OF A SYSTEM
An integrated laser system is made up of the following 6 main segments:
Laser
Source of photon energy for marking or materials processing
Beam Delivery
Optics for shaping, homogenizing, relaying and imaging of laser light onto the work surface such that the energy density and uniformity is optimum for the process
Product Handling
The fixtures, motorized stages, robotics and/or conveyor systems that automate the loading, aligning and unloading of the product being processed during a production cycle
Process Monitoring
Video cameras, image capturing, intelligent vision and/or fiber optics that make up the external process monitoring system
Laser Support
The laser power supply, cooling system, gas supply (where appropriate), physical support and/or safety enclosures which house and maintain the laser system
Computer Integration
The “operator friendly” front end software which allows complete control of all aspects of the system, such as laser maintenance, process parameter monitoring, product cycle control and safety features
