| An integrated laser system is made up of the following 6 main segments: |
| Laser |
| Source of photon energy for marking or materials processing |
| Beam Delivery |
| Optics for shaping, homogenizing, relaying and imaging of laser light onto the work surface such that the energy density and uniformity is optimum for the process |
| Product Handling |
| The fixtures, motorized stages, robotics and/or conveyor systems that automate the loading, aligning and unloading of the product being processed during a production cycle |
| Process Monitoring |
| Video cameras, image capturing, intelligent vision and/or fiber optics that make up the external process monitoring system |
| Laser Support |
| The laser power supply, cooling system, gas supply (where appropriate), physical support and/or safety enclosures which house and maintain the laser system |
| Computer Integration |
| The “operator friendly” front end software which allows complete control of all aspects of the system, such as laser maintenance, process parameter monitoring, product cycle control and safety features |
