Direct Write Marking Projection Marking
  • Parts need to be stationary
    • Acceleration and deceleration slow marking process
  • Recommended for:
    • Slower processing throughputs (1-4 chips)
    • Low volume (thousands/day), where a great deal of information is necessary
    • Serialization, sequential numbering
    • Large available marking areas
  • “Flash-on-the-Fly” marking (i.e.,can mark parts while they are moving)
  • Recommended for:
    • High speed marking (5-25 chips/second)
    • High volume (millions/day), where a limited amount of information is necessary
    • Repeatable information on units
    • Limited marking area (ideal for SMDs in Microelectronics industry)
