What is a Dazer Laser^®?

A Dazer Laser^® is a compact, light-weight, hand held non-lethal laser weapon that projects a proprietary high-powered green laser. The sole purpose of this ocular distraction and interruption device is to temporarily and safely impair the vision of the threat from 1 – 2400 meters (model dependent).

Who is able to purchase a Dazer Laser^® product?

The Dazer Laser^® is sold to Government Agencies (following ITAR regulations of the US Department of State), the Military, Law Enforcement Agencies, as well as large security companies, prison systems, and any other entity approved by Laser Energetics and the US Department of State. The product is NOT currently offered for purchase by individual civilians.

Where are the Dazer Laser^® products made?

All Dazer Laser^® products are designed and engineered by Laser Energetics, Inc. at our facilities in New Jersey and made in the United States of America.

Do you currently have Manufacturer Representatives and/or Distributors? If so, how do you become one?

Are your products considered firearms?

Dazer Laser^® products are non-lethal directed energy weapons which fall under category XVIII subpart (a) of the ITAR Part 121 Munitions List and are NOT considered firearms.

Do you offer training for your products?

Yes. Training courses are required with all purchases. Training covers functionality and safe operation of Dazer Laser^® so the user learns the proper and safe way to use all Dazer Laser^® products.

Is the Dazer Laser^® waterproof?

Yes. The Dazer Laser^® is fully waterproof up to 20 meters or 66 feet (2 atmospheres).

How does the Dazer Laser^® security feature work?

Each Dazer Laser^® comes with its own serial number. With this serial number comes a unique code specific only to that serial number. There is a time clock in each Dazer Laser^® device that the factory will set for 12 or 24 hour use. Once the code is input, the device is activated for the preset time period of 12 or 24 hours. At the end of this time period, the device will shut off and not be operational until the code is re-entered. If the Dazer Laser^® is ever misplaced, lost or stolen, it will only work for up to 12 or 24 hours before the code has to be reentered. If the unique code is not reentered, the device will not turn on. This prevents unauthorized users from using the Dazer Laser^® Products.

The Dazer Laser^® Defender and Guardian also have a built-in kill switch. In the event the Dazer Laser^® is not needed for the full activation period, the user simply engages the kill switch and the device is shut off instantly until the security code is re- entered.

What is Variable Range & Variable Focus technology?

All current non-lethal laser products use a one size fits all approach with a fixed focus beam. Fixed focus devices can leave the end user in unpredictable situations creating a high risk of causing permanent eye damage at short ranges. Currently, the Dazer Laser^® is the only non-lethal weapon of its kind that can be used eye-safe under 18 meters, all the way down to 1 meter. All other non-lethal optical distracters can cause permanent eye damage under a minimum of 18 meters.

LEI has designed all Dazer Laser^® products with the patented Variable Range & Variable Focus technology which allows the user to adjust the range based on the distance of the threat. The Dazer Laser^® devices are the most effective devices available because they have a one (1) meter beam diameter at many different ranges: 5, 10, 15, 25, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, 600, 800, 1200, 1400, 1600, 2000, and 2400 meters (model dependent). By having a one (1) meter beam size at all of these ranges, we can EFFECTIVELY impair the vision of the threat, versus just targeting and “painting” them green with a light at long ranges. This is why Variable Range & Variable Focus technology is so important. It allows the device to be effective and safe at all ranges beyond 1 meter. LEI has patented this technology which makes us the only company in the world able to create an eye safe device for short and long range operation with all ranges in between.

What is MEAN™ Beam Technology?

MEAN™ Beam Technology is a patent pending technology that is available only in Dazer Laser^® products. M.E.A.N. is an acronym which stands for: “Modulated & CW Lasers…Erratically pulsed…Awareness inhibiting…Nausea inducing…Beam”. This technology allows for one laser to simultaneously operate in both CW (continuous wavelength) and Modulating (pulsing) modes. By operating simultaneously, the laser can cool itself more efficiently, which allows for longer and more effective operation. In addition to being able to cool better, the combination increases its effectiveness because it removes the threat’s ability to judge distances and ranges due to the modulation and visual impairment. CW (continuous wavelength) causes visual impairment while Modulating (pulsing) causes awareness impairment and in some cases a feeling of nausea. It is not intended to make someone sick; however, the modulating can cause this side effect in some people.

Are there any long term effects of being Dazed?

No, not if the exposure level adheres to the ANSI Standard (Z136.1) for a 10 second exposure, which our devices do. When conducting our eye safety tests, we engaged the subjects’ dilated eyes for 10 seconds. According to the ANSI standard (Z136.1), reducing the laser exposure level to satisfy a 10 second exposure allows for multiple exposures without any long term or cumulative effects, therefore our Dazer Laser^® does not cause any long term effects when operated as trained.

Has anyone ever experienced permanent eye injuries from the Dazer Laser^®?

No one has ever experienced an eye injury from our Dazer Laser^® products.
